The Section 8AA seeding meeting took place last Friday morning with the Rams earning the #3-seed and will face the #6-seed Buffalo Bison at Memorial Arena. This will be the third time in the past six years the Rams have opened up section play at home against Buffalo with a 6-1 win in the 2011-2012 season and a 10-2 victory in 2012-2013.
The Bison come into the contest sporting a 14-11 overall record and 2-5 in section play and finished second to St. Michael-Albertville in the Mississippi 8 Conference where they closed out play with an 8-3 record. Buffalo is a very senior dominant team with 12 seniors on the roster including all five of their top point getters. Leading goal scorer for the Bison is Blake Habisch (18-19=37) along with fellow seniors Tom Rooney (7-22-29) and Cade Stensby (10-13=23). Sophomore goaltender Nathan Mueller has played all but one period during the season with a very respectable 2.03 GAA and .916 save percentage. He has 5 shutouts for the season. Buffalo is coached by Aaron Johnson and is in his fourth season behind the Bison bench.
